Humming and Hiccups – Three Common Appliance Problems

A Loud Refrigerator
If your refrigerator is “complaining” or making a loud humming sound periodically, it might have to do with the defrost line.
It's often helpful to get professionals to look at these, because it's difficult for people to access the right parts of the refrigerator on their own. These are big, heavy appliances, and increasingly complicated by new technology. You may also have a problem with your icemaker or chilled water line, and we can look at that, too.
A Loud Dishwasher
Maybe it's your dishwasher that’s making all of that noise.
In the case of the loud dishwasher, some items may be stuck in the pump area. The water has to be able to flow correctly to get your dishes sparkling clean, and one of the warning signs that this isn't happening is a loud sound happening on particular parts of the cycle. You can poke around with a flashlight, but we recommend calling a professional firm where the people know exactly what’s up with these kinds of problems.
A Loud Dryer
With dryers and washing machines, a problem with a loud humming is usually a bit different.
Lots of the wild sounds that come out of the dryer are related to the spinning barrel that provides the agitation for the clothes that are inside. The sound may be coming from a bad bearing or worn out glides, or a number of other problems. Again, we can take a look and accurately diagnose the issue, and then fix it, for your peace of mind, and so that you can continue to use your appliances – because that’s important!
